I spy with my eyes people who seek happiness!

It is Saturday and I was bored and I wanted to feel happy!

I thought why not snoop a little and see what people around the world are doing to feel happy!

Being an SEO savvy person (the person searches keywords and help your content be more found-able by the search engines), I jumped on to SEMRUSH and analysed all the different questions people are asking related to happiness and holy friggin moly!

I was flabbergasted!

Let’s admit it.

We all want it !

We all seek it!

We all chase it !

Some of us kill for it !

Some of us steal it!

Some of us pretend that we have it!

Most of us keep looking for it in

yet another relationship,

yet another job,

yet another hobby,

yet another experience.

And the sly, elusive happiness keeps escaping!

So I was telling ya I was flabbergasted!
Shocked by the search results of “happiness”.

I am not judging anyone! but those questions that people ask Google-

What is the definition of happiness?

Gee ! they never told us in the school so now intelligent people are asking the artificial intelligence!

Describe happiness

Boy! they are persistent!

True meaning of happiness

Really?

Examples of happiness in life

errr… a cheesy slice of pizza ?

How to be happy alone?

Quit it! Don’t tie your happiness on to another person.

I mean do you ever wonder how did we reach here?

It was as simple as a plate of food, few clothes to cover and a roof on head, but here we are !

Chasing happiness with 3 course meal filled belly, fine cotton shirt on the body and illuminated false ceiling over the head.

All this while we read a ebook, a blog, or watch a video about the role of dopamine, serotonin, endorphin and some more “phines” and “mins” in making us happy!

Oh the quest for happiness!

Ask the 1 month old, does he care two hoots about covid19, or the crashing stock market or whether he will be majestically successful in life!

And ask him again after 16 years when he is well conditioned on how important it is to “get this”, “get that”, “achieve this” to be happy!

I experimented this on myself, and tell you what.

I took a piece of paper and wrote all my worries on it -

Retirement funds

Children’s future

My dreams of doing some major shit in life!

And once I virtually stripped it off my mind, I found I had enough to be in my default state of happiness. I may not be able to afford a vacation at Florida but I will be able to afford the dentures at 80.

Planning kills worry.

Working consistently on the plan kills worry.

and progress on that plans kills worry

— tada! you stay in that natural state of happiness!

Isn’t it ?

Love the work you do,

Labour to bring it to full fruition and

Luck ! Yea luck has a wee bit role to play — I kind of still do not want to believe that but I am open to being talked in it.

May be luck coz I am still alive and tapping the keyboard!

Thought — “I am moron”

feelings- unhappy!

Thought — “I am loser”

feelings- unhappy!

Thought — “I will never make enough money”

feelings- unhappy!

No brainer ! Ok ! What you think is what you feel!

Trust me if doctor’s knew where happiness resides, we would be paying them to implant it into us. Imagine “happiness transplantation”.

There are far more unhappy people than we can think of !

Don’t believe check out the volume of people asking

how to be happy?

What did I tell ya?

I was in my teens when I had this itch to learn computer programming. It was 1995 or so I guess.

My dad did not see any value in investing a bomb in learning the machine that looked like a Television. He never really liked us watching a lot of TV. It was supposed to spoil us!
I took his refusal to my heart.
I decided to quit eating — that is supposed to make parents worried and it did not!

Day two, I resorted to partial eating as it was tough to be that unhappy!

Day three, I ate as much as I liked but still held on to the unhappiness in my demeanour.

It was getting tough not to laugh at family jokes and look hostile.

It was getting difficult to talk over phone calls with my friends while still displaying the unhappy, long face to my family around.

Staying unhappy was tough!

Needless to say, I had to be happy, despite the fact that dad did not let me enrol in the computers training program until three years.

Ask a parent! No one else can relate to this one better than them!

And this point needs no elaboration. Jumping to next one!

This points towards mindfulness! Like totally!

Being in the now! Living in the very second that is happening!

The present moment keeps you in a non-stressful, worry free zone!

Think of the hobby that you love — painting, sketching, writing, playing, exercising, dancing — while doing these activities, you will never feel stressed, unhappy or bothered.

Like writing about happiness, I am happy right now! I am doing what I love, I am watching my keyboard, my screen, and vaguely aware of my kids and husband in the house somewhere!

Few of my friends have green thumbs, they keep their mood and garden always hail and hearty!
I love to write, and design posts and write poems and quotes. I love words and love to experiment and learn metaphors, sarcasm, satire or any rhetorical device.
THAT MAKES ME HAPPY and fulfilled!

You must have heard, the journey is what makes you happy not the destination.

We are such beings who seek creative expression. We have to be doing something that engages our faculties, keeps us thrilled in the process.

That is the truth about our happiness!
